英語でas…asは同等比較の構文ですが、as much as possibleという表現は「可能な限り」や「できる限り」という意味になります。和訳をすると、他にも「できるだけ」という意味としても使われます。
また、英語で「できるだけ」・「できる限り」は他にも、as much as I canという表現もあります。この場合、as much as possibleは「量」を表すことに対して、I canは「（能力・体力など）ある限り」というニュアンスになりますが、基本的に同じ「最大限まで」、「精一杯」という意味になります。過去の話をする場合はcouldを使います。
二つのasの間にくるmuchの代わりに、fast、 long、stronglyなどの副詞と置き換えることもできて、「できるだけ早く」、「できるだけ長く」、「できるだけ強く」という意味になります（副詞を知っていればそれだけ応用できます）。もう一つの用法は、as muchやas manyの後に名詞を入れることです。この場合、「できるだけ多くの〜」という意味になります。littleやfewなどを使うと「できるだけ少なく」などの意味になります。
