no oneとの違いを始め、anyoneの使い方81選

以前の記事で、someoneの使い方を紹介しました。この時、anyoneとsomeoneは微妙なニュアンスの違いがあることを説明しました。実は、anyone「誰か」の使い方には、否定文と疑問文以外で、まだ他に表現やイディオムがたくさんあります。

代名詞anyoneは、他の単語（but、else、if、など）と組み合わせて使う事が多いです。文法は気にせず、単語のコンビネーションとして覚えてください。組み合わせにによって、「誰もが」、「誰とでも」、「もし誰かに」などの表現が作れます。また、「（誰々）以外他に思いつきません」と言う表現もあります。

それから、英語でanyoneと聞くと、否定文で使われる事が多いので、一見ネガティブな意味合いに聞こえますが、anyone自体はネガティブな意味はありません。その点では、no one「誰も」とは違います。

本日は、no oneとの違いを始め、anyoneの使い方81選を、講師として18年以上の経験を持つネイティブ・スピーカーで異文化コミュニケーションの専門家（米・仏・日）である筆者が紹介します。

1. anyoneを使う時のルール

・anyoneを否定文の主語には使いません。No oneを使います。

Anyone didn’t come to the party.❌ → No one came to the party.

・anyoneはnotを使った否定文の時に使います：

I don’t know anyone by that name.
「私はその名前の人を知りません。」

・anyoneの性別は不明なので、後に来る代名詞はthey、their（またはhe/she、his/her）を使います。

If anyone needs help, they can call this number.
If anyone needs help, he/she can call this number.
「助けが必要な場合は、この番号に電話してください。」

・ネガティブな感情・意味の文でanyoneを使う事があります。ただし、anyone自体はネガティブな意味ではありません。

There is hardly anyone I know in this party.
「このパーティーには私が知っている人はほとんどいません。」

We went home without meeting anyone interesting.
「私たちは面白い人に会うことなく家に帰りました。」

・「誰かの〜」を表す所有格はanyone’sになります。

Is this anyone’s bag?
「これはとなたかのバッグですか？」

・anyoneよりanybodyの方がカジュアルに聞こえます。意味と使い方は同じです。

2. 疑問文のanyone

Anyone dropped their phone?
「携帯電話を落とした人はいますか?」

3. 否定文のanyone

Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.
「心配しないでください、誰にも言いません。」

We didn’t know anyone when we moved here.
「ここに引っ越してきたとき、私たちは誰も知りませんでした。」

Don’t let anyone tell you it’s impossible.
「誰にもそれは不可能だと言わせないでください。」

4. anyoneの基本的な肯定文

5. anyoneとよく一緒に使う単語集

①「（誰々）以外」と言う意味のanyone but/except

He won’t talk to anyone except his lawyer.
「彼は弁護士以外誰とも話そうとしません。」

She refuses to speak to anyone but her sister.
「彼女は妹以外の誰とも話すことを拒否します。」

⑤「（本当に）誰でも」と言う意味のjust anyone

⑥「もし誰か」・「〜という人がいるとすれば」と言う意味のif anyone
